Shippensburg Stars Host their Annual Kid’s Night Event

Updated: Oct 2, 2020

The Shippensburg Stars hosted their Annual Kid’s Night Game on July 24, at Veterans Stadium, Shippensburg Memorial Park. Kid’s Night has been an annual event for the Shippensburg Area Athletic Association for 30+ years. The SAAA gives out prizes at the bottom of every inning and gives out two grand prizes of bikes, to kids 12 and under. The prizes consist of baseball gloves, whiffle ball and bats, footballs, basketballs, kick balls, and frisbees. We like to promote getting outside and participating in activities with these prizes. There was plenty of smiles and excitement provided to kids throughout the years.

This year we had a great turnout for the event! We had 40 kids 12 and under show up for the event and every kid received a prize. This years bike winners were Madelyn McKee and Aidan Martin. The event was also a charity event for Liam’s League. See “SAAA Helps to Raise Money for Liam’s League” article for information about such a worthy local cause.

Even though the event was cut short by rain, it was still a great night. Shippensburg Stars was leading 8-1 when the game was postponed till July 30. Everyone enjoys seeing smiles on a young child's face but the SAAA also hopes this event will get our youth interested in community sports and also maybe get them interested in being a future player for the Stars.
